Abstract:
Spinal cord injury(SCI) is a serious nervous system injury with high rate of morbidity and disability. The injury causes changes in the supporting-driving mode of the patients daily activities, and alters the loading pattern of the upper limbs and buttocks. Biomechanical factors lead to a series of complications, such as shoulder pain and pressure ulcers, which increase the difficulty of rehabilitation of SCI patients. It is necessary to establish a supporting-driving theory for the activities of SCI patients to analyze the biomechanics of those complications. The supporting-driving theory provides a new perspective for the rehabilitation research of SCI patients and a basis for the development of new intelligent rehabilitation equipments and assistive devices.
Key words:  spinal cord injury  support  drive  pressure ulcer  shoulder pain
